The offshore wind industry has been developing since 1991, when the first offshore wind farm was constructed in Denmark. Since then, both academia and the industry have made giant leaps in technological and managerial advancements. The Lean journey at Paris-Ouest Construction started at the end of 2007 through Gemba walks at their construction sites. Since then, at a pace of 3 to 4 visits per week, they have created a production based strategy using the lean approach. In this session, Jean-Baptiste will explain how through problem solving, Paris-Ouest Construction have discovered and applied lean tools to their projects, in order to accelerate flow and improve their processes and enhance their quality as well as on time delivery of their projects.

In this session, Sophie discuss how to use a structured approach to identify waste, understand value and enhance customer satisfaction.
Visual management is the visual and definitive verification that Lean Construction was implemented correctly. Visual management is nothing more than the evidence that the set of Lean tools and concepts necessary for a given project was suitably implemented; the KPIs chosen by the management team are being followed and updated by everyone, and continuous improvement based on the performance obtained is being carried out in the right way. In this session, Juan further explore this topic and provide some handy tips & tricks.
The project manager panel will bring together four senior construction project managers from around Europe. They will share why and how they have implemented Lean Construction on their projects. The panelists will focus on the challenges they had to solve in order to involve all the project stakeholders, while respecting the culture, the legal framework and the specificities of their projects.
Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) is a well-known word, but not many people have participated in an IPD project in Europe so far. There are countries such as Finland that have implemented IPD in hundreds of projects while countries such as Germany that are still on the sideline. This session is a wake up call. Annett will give an overview of the status quo of IPD in Europe and explain the reasons why the diffusion is still low and what it takes to be part of the change.
Finland is undergoing an immense change in the execution of real estate development and construction projects. Nearly 100 projects have already been launched in the country with the Integrated Project Delivery principle. The total value of the projects is over 7.0 billion euros. In this session, Lauri will explain why this is happening, what the Finns have learnt so far, and how the implementation of lean in their projects have led to better results.

The Lean Construction Blog Conferences are one of my favorite ways to connect with others working to improve project delivery. I personally loved how the participants engaged in live Q&A after each set of themed sessions and continuously interacted throughout the entire proceeding. People were still talking about the learnings months later. I highly recommend attending these events to keep your skills growing for your teams.
In 2020 we saw many conferences and events restructured due to the need for a virtual platform. In my opinion, the Lean Construction in the Field Conderence in September did a great job organizing and planning for a 100% live event. Watching and hearing from the subject matter experts from around the world allowed for real time feedback, questions and answers. I look forward to the upcoming European Lean Construction Conference.
The team at Lean Construction Blog understand how to facilitate a virtual conference. As a speaker, we were able to engage with attendees, receive feed back, and answer questions in real time. This conference provided me with key take aways that I can use to improve workflow on my construction projects.
